History

About The Preserve

The Preserve spans roughly 13 miles of the Warm Springs Valley, encompassing the historic villages of both Warm and Hot Springs, VA.

Established in 2005, by Warm Springs Investment Company, under the prominent development management of Celebration Associates, The Preserve represents nearly 12,000 acres, yet only 2,000 of which is master-planned for residential development. The remaining landscape and corresponding viewshed has been conserved in perpetuity by way of easements with The Nature Conservancy and Virginia Outdoor Foundation.

Today The Preserve is beginning an exciting new era of community development. Under the ownership of Homestead Preserve Investment Company, and the Development/Real Estate Sales Management of Natural Retreats, and its brokerage arm, Red Roots Realty, new homes and homesites are now available for sale, and for vacation rental uses.

The Preserve enjoys a tri-party-agreement with The Omni® Homestead Resort, and The Nature Conservancy for ownership and use of over 100 miles of managed and maintained hiking, biking and equestrian trails throughout the region. While not directly affiliated with The Preserve, The Omni® Homestead Resort offers membership to it’s Golf & Tennis Club with all of the resort’s amenities; golf, tennis, spa, indoor and outdoor pools, skiing, skating, shooting club, private trout stream, restaurants and shopping. Owners within and guests of The Preserve Community, also enjoy their own exclusive amenity facilities at The Old Dairy Community Center. This historic facility was refurbished in 2007 and today offers private outdoor pool, indoor hot tub, fitness, sauna, spa treatment rooms, generous meeting spaces, and represents an exceptional event venue for weddings, and gatherings of all sizes.

All in all, the re-emergence of The Preserve today is still driven by the unrivaled beauty of the Warm Springs Valley, and the perpetual protection of its conservation partners. The value of this landscape and its welcoming community remain unaffected by time, ownership or economic volatility.

The Preserve has earned numerous awards and recognition for its commitment to environmental stewardship and its devotion to the preservation of Bath County and Virginia’s architectural heritage. The Preserve is grounded by its established Community Charter, Architectural Pattern Book, and energetic Preserve Community Association.
